Your information

Privacy Notice

This notice explains how Urmston Pharmacy uses the information you give us when you register through this website.

Who operates the pharmacy

Urmston Pharmacy is operated by Alipharma Ltd (company number 06091428), whose registered address is 287B Stretford Road, Urmston, Manchester, M41 9NU. Alipharma Ltd is responsible for deciding how your information is used for the purposes described here.

What information we collect

When you complete our registration form, we collect:

  • your title, forename and surname
  • your date of birth
  • your NHS number, if you choose to give it
  • your address and postcode
  • your telephone number
  • your email address, if you choose to give it

Your NHS number and your registration with a pharmacy relate to your health care, so we treat this information as health data.

We also use limited technical information to keep the form secure:

  • A security cookie. A temporary cookie protects the form against forged submissions. It contains no details about you and ends when you close your browser. The site does not use advertising or analytics cookies.
  • Your internet address. A scrambled version is kept briefly to limit repeated submissions, and is then deleted.

Why we collect it

We use your information to process your request to register with Urmston Pharmacy and make us your nominated pharmacy for NHS electronic prescriptions, to contact you if anything further is needed, and to provide our NHS prescription and delivery service.

We do not use your registration details for marketing.

Our legal basis

Data protection law requires two separate things when health information is involved, and both must be identified:

  • A lawful basis for using personal data under Article 6 of the UK GDPR. This applies to all of the information you give us. We rely on public task (Article 6(1)(e)) to process your registration and provide our NHS services. We rely on your consent (Article 6(1)(a)) to make us your nominated pharmacy, which you give by submitting the form. You can withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us or by changing or cancelling your nomination.
  • An additional condition for using health data under Article 9 of the UK GDPR. This applies to information about your health. We rely on your explicit consent (Article 9(2)(a)), which you give by submitting the form. You can withdraw it at any time by contacting us. This does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it, but we may not be able to continue processing your request.

The checkbox on our form confirms that you have read this notice. It is not how we ask for your consent to marketing, and we do not use it for that purpose.

How your registration request is processed

When you submit the form, your details are checked and sent by email to the pharmacy's mailbox for our team to review. The website does not keep a copy of your details in a database or in your browser, and it does not send a copy to your own email address.

Submitting the form asks us to become your nominated pharmacy, but it does not change your NHS nomination automatically. Our team will process your request. Nominating a pharmacy is your choice, and you can change or cancel your nomination at any time.

Registration emails are sent over an encrypted connection using Namecheap's Private Email service, which handles them on our behalf.

Who we may share it with

When your nomination is changed, your information is shared with your GP practice and NHS England. We only share what is necessary, and we do not sell your information.

Apart from the email service described above, we do not share your registration information with anyone else unless the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

We keep registration emails and evidence of nomination requests for up to 10 years. If we cannot process a registration request, we delete it.

We keep patient records in line with the NHS Records Management Code of Practice.

Your data protection rights

You have rights over your personal information, although some depend on the circumstances and on the legal basis being relied upon. You can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of your information
  • correct information that is wrong or incomplete
  • delete your information
  • restrict how we use your information
  • stop using your information, by objecting to its use
  • transfer information you gave us to another organisation

Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
